One of my friends got USMLE scores of 81 and 81 in steps 1 and 2. She is an international medical graduate. I would like to know about her chances for a residency match. Also, can u please point us to proper resources, where we can find out about residency programs offered for international medical graduates.

Try in NY, Buffalo, and Kentucky area. Most programs down south have cut off at 84/85. Some even go as high as 88. I would say NY area would be the best bet. Good luck.

new york is getting difficult these days with low score.best bets would be to apply to as many programs as you can afford and improve your CV with observerships/externships/research.

Thanks a lot Nyfmg and imgdoc for all the valuable suggestions. How difficult is it for an IMG to get into observerships/externships/research, what are the different avenues to get into these programs. What else can be done to improve the CV. Will it help to take Step 3 ??
