Bacterial vaginosis results from an overgrowth of normal bacteria in the vagina,(not due to any single bacteria)
it is not passed by sex and is not dangerous, but it can cause disturbing symptoms
like vaginal discharge and odor.
In diagnosing bacterial vaginosis, it is important to exclude other serious infections, such as gonorrhea and chlamydia.
Treatment options for bacterial vaginosis include metronidazole-oral or vaginal gels.
Major serious complications of bacterial vaginosis is during pregnancy( like premature birth)
clue cells -normal vag cells with lot of bacteria on their surface
whiff test -additn of KOH to the discharge produces the fishy odor charac of BV
