residency v/s transitionl year - mommd

Can somebody tell me what is the diference in term of duties, salaries and responsabilities ?? I had a call mesage from a local hospital that i apply LAST YEAR.

hey guys i need your opinion ...about IM ,....same salaries? morning reports? sign as MD? hours/Wk? vacation?.... whatever you know will be perfect to share it w/ me.

same pay less call relaxed duties you get more electives rotate in three different areas of choice,sign as an MD get the same 4 weeks of vacation can apply for PGY2 positions in subspec like Radiology etc laterbut may or maynot be taken as one year of residency for categorical Int Med or Surgery.Hope this helps

it is difficult for an IMG to get a position in transitional year.

Depends on programs,
As I know, some small community programs still looking for residents to fill their transitional year spots. It is less competetive when you try to find a PGY2 position later, but you get a paid job (same pay as catagorical resident) and USCE and LORs from US doctors. You will have better stand for another year of PGY1 in decent programs instead of wasting one year.
