if you apply preliminary position there is a place where we need to fill the pgy2 choice can we put internal medicine in that
and when we go for interview how can we explain this

I am also looking for a good explaination for this. I m not applying for prelim.
applying to prelim + cat in the same program is not advisable.

it is not a big deal to tick both in the same program. If both boxed are ticked, most programs only consider cate for IMG, and leave preliminary for AMGs, unless you only tick preliminary.

very simple, u just need more orientation to IM which is ur final destination n dream

so why check the prelim box at all? just to put urself into trouble at the interview. prelim IM is picked by most aplcants eyeing different specialty.

why would one need an orientation in pursuit of his/her dream. I personally think it wavers your commitment towards IM.

no sir I very well know the difference between prelim and transitional. more than 90% prelims go into different specialties. Preliminary interns in past years have joined Emergency Medicine, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Radiology, Neurology, Anesthesia, and other clinical fields
