A surgical resident trying to locate before thyroid surgery evaluation the landmarks and surface features as asked by his superiors. He made the following findings. The sugeon find out one mistake concerning vertebral levels,
a) Atlas and dens of axis lie in the horizontal plane of the open mouth in
an AP projection
b) hyoid bone lies at the level of the fifth cervical vertebra
c) lower border of the cricoid cartilage is at the level of the sixth
cervical vertebra
d) upper border of the thyroid lamina is at the level of the fourth
cervical vertebra
e) junction of the pharynx and the esophagus is at the level of the
sixth cervical vertebra
