DNA gyrase is type topoisomerase II in bacteria...it requires ATP whereas topoisomeraseII does not DNA gyrase adds negative supercoils in bacterial DNA in addition to relieving positive supercoils Topoisomerase II relieves positive supercoils only fluoroquinolones target bacterial DNA gyrase
