mfks actually has put up a very good list of books and resources.
I use up to date and emedicine probably more than books. Regards, © droidor http://rxbreakthroughs.blogspot.com/

I am also beginning my IM residnecy this summer and my experience from all the observerships/externships say that Pocket Medicine (MGH Handbook of IM) is a must for an IM intern here in US. This book is simply amazing!!! Always keep it + Taracson Pocket Pharmacopia in your white coat's pocket!!! From other books, I would prefer Washington Manual. It is very practical! But as mentioned by dr2 I also use uptodate and emedicine much more than the books.

any of the books listed above are good as long as your READ them
uptodate and emedicine will be very helpful when you are in the wards. I personally favor emedicine more than up to date as the search feature in emedicine yields more meaningful results that up to date. hope this helps © droidor http://rxbreakthroughs.blogspot.com/
