I want to know,if doing prelim IM can help me get a categorical position later on? Are there PGY2 openings in IM? I want to apply again in cat IM,so will this be better than doing obshps etc?

holy **** obviously doin a PRELIM year is better than doing some obsie!!!

re the rest of ur Q... its a HUGE question.... wait for someone to deal with it.... hopefully someone will reply soon..... i dunno abt that part ok...?

doing a prelim year should help you in all ways because you are getting US clinical experience, however I am pretty sure that scoring a prelim spot in IM is way more difficult than actually getting the categorical. I'd just apply directly for categorical

Is it like,if you do a prelimin year you cannot apply for a categorical position PGY1 again next year?
Saw this topic on this forum,last year s discussion! so wondering!
