No, You still have to do USG - to confirm the date and to see if we can find the NTD or VWD or any other explanation for the abnormal MS -AFT

but up to date says ............no repeat usg screening needed (only needed if she didnt have it in first trimester) instead repeat MSAF AGAIN.

repeat AFP is done to confirm that it is high ...
BUT after confirming that it is high, u need to do US not only to confirm dates but also it needs to be done before amniocentesis for the following reasons
• Position of uterus
• Placental location
• Fetal anatomy
• Fetal pathology
• Location of a suitable pocket of amniotic fluid to sample

this last point is very important before the procedure
