might sound lame but someone answer plz - drmints

what do they mean by substitution of lysine for glutamate at position 6 ,meaning that HbC will have 2 additional positive charges compared with hb A
and substitution of valine for glutamate in sickle cell anemia hbs will have one less negative charge when comapred to Hb A
plz someone tell me..

i think u r right.

HbC:

-One negative lose (causes a net gain of +charge, as it WAS neutralized by glutamate earlier)
-One positive Gain(Lysine)

so it should be 2 +charge net gain compared to HbA.

wait dont get can any one explain all i kno is ARG lys and his are basic n and glutamate is acdicn negatively charged at ph wat does this crap mean thanks

also i thought subin glutamate for valine u just loose glutamates neg charge since valine has no charge????

yes as u said..substituin valine for glutatamate u loose one negative charge..and this is at ph 8.4..
