anybody wants to explain what baroreceptors and their functions with hypertension and hypotension are.... with a drug example like how does atenolol have effects on baroreceptors?? thanks...

dam yea thats legit

basically any thing causing hyoptension(e.g nitrates..hydralazine..minoxidil drugs without ANS pharm or a1 blockers) or drugs that have pressor effects(a1 stimulation..like phenylephrine possibily) affect barorecpetors


a increase in BP(HTN or caroitid massage) is sensed n the message of HTN causes INCREASE in AFFERENT(sensory) barorecpetor firing=INCREASE efferent activity of parasympahetic to decrease SA node firing and AV conduction


n total opp for hypotension=DECREASE aff. barorecpetor firing=INCREASE eff sympathics via CN 9 and increase HR and increase CO
