folic acid, folic acid deficiency causes megaloblastic anemia without neurological deficits unlike vit.B12

neurological deficits is not due to folic acid deficiency but due to lack of B12.

Vit B12 (Cyanocobalmin)--causes Megaloblastic anemia & Neurological deficits, due to the accumulation of methylmalonic acid in the myelin-sheets..

Folic acid def causes only Megaloblastic anemia without any neurologic deficits.
So, giving folic acid will correct the anemia, but will not treat the neurologic symptoms.
