for posterior circulation strokes, memorizing the cranial nerves affected will help.
1) ASA- ipsilateral tongue deviation 2)PICA- hoarseness( nucleus ambiguus- CN X) 3) AICA- decreased/absent corneal reflex( CN III) 4) PCA- contralateral homonynous hemianopia with macular sparing 5) Basilar- Locked-in syndrome

AICA....> lat.pontine syndrom. ....> damage to vestibullar nuclei , principle sensory nucleus of trigeminal n ,facial nucleus ,cochlear nucleus ,contralat pain and tem of limbs and trunk.
