Now is the time to look at California, for those without a PTAL that are looking into 2017.
My Take: There are thousands of open positions that IMG's do not take advantage of because of the stress of getting the PTAL. I know this is a long process, but if you have the chance to do something different, now is a good time to start looking into it because the PTAL letter can take up to 6 months to process and will require you to get in touch with your medical school.
Finally: Although the match game is very risky and unpredictable, you want to be sure that you are doing all you can and spreading your tentacles as wide as possible.
The PTAL is a pricey investment: around $500 not adding the cost of getting documents from your school.
