limb development - sao
#1
During normal limb development, cells of the lateral plate mesoderm induce the overlying ectoderm to form the apical ectodermal ridge (AER). If the mesoderm was unable to induce or maintain the AER due to a gene mutation or exposure to a teratogen, what would be the consequence?

a) Nothing would happen because the mesoderm does not normally induce the formation of the

AER.

b) Amelia or meromelia would result.

c) Syndactyly would result.

d) Two of the above are correct

meromelia (mero·me·lia) (mero-me´le-əWink [mero-1 + -melia] congenital absence of any part of a limb, as in adactyly, hemimelia, or phocomelia; cf. amelia.

id say b.... u defi need mesoderm to stimulate the apical ectodermal ridge.. and if it doesnt form u wont have fingers to have a sundactly which occurs due to failure of apoptosis anyways..

sao ill have to leave this party soon Sad have to be someplace else!
