but in high yield neuroanatomy it is written that damage to dorsomedial thalamic nucleus causes this problem.what is the ans.then?

I think lesion of the mamillary bodies are reversible; according to goljan, while those of the limbic system; causing korsakoff's psychosis, are irreversible.

wernicke encephalopathy...characterisd by confusion ,opthamoplegia ...........is causedby damage of mamillery bodies...whereas..........korsakoff psychosis.is caused by damage of dorsomedial nucleus of thalamus...........hope it help

found this.str.affected in thiamine def.are mammilary bodies,anterior cerebellar vermis,dm thalamic nucleus and hippocampus.
