in exercise, how does the venous blood Po2 and pCO2 change
1. no change
2. Po2 decrease, pCo2 increase
3. pO2 no change, pcO2 increase
4. Po2 decrease, pco2 no change
In exercise, lung will thus have
1. high vascular resistance, high pulmonary blood pressure

lung is different from the rest of the body in terms of response to po2 and pco2
decrease po2 and increase pco2 usually dilate BV, but in lung, it will constrict to balance the V/Q
In exercise, you will have a larger CO, thus you will need to held more blood in the lung
In exercise, blood flows faster, so it will have less time for the gas exchange to happen in the lung

there is an increase in ventilatory rate , so it should compensate the increased demand for O2 ? CO is increased but the increased recruitment of capillaries & the capacity for distention of pulm. blood vessels prevents increase in resistance at the same time accommodating the increased blood flow...

I think that the answer for question 3 is 3, I remember form BRS that C02 and O2 is an example of diffusion limited in strenous exercise, but I just read the following in another book, during exercise diffusion increases and "only some elite athletes at extremely high work levels show a fall in arterial PO2 , caused by diffusion limitation.
