Why do Step-1 result take so long ? -

Computerized Step-1 result take 4 - 6 weeks. Why does it take this long ?

Because of it being it being computerized, it has a potential to report your score immediately as in GRE or in TOEFL.

What is the cause fo this 4 -to- 6-weeks delay ?

Maybe they have to compare your results to everyone else to establish your final score. That sounds right.

However, the comparision is NOT based on current test.. It is based on the "median", "average" and "variance" of scores of last 2-3 years.. and that is NOT changing in 4-weeks timeframe..

Recently, USMLE reviewed passing scores etc and agreed to continue with current passing score levels..

Because it takes 4 weeks for results, it takes this whole process so looong..
