Anti lymphocyte globulin (ALG) is also antibodiy against human T cells which is also used in the treatment of acute rejection in organ transplantation, especially in kidney transplants.

differnce is
1.it is of horse derived while OKT3 is murine (like from murine rodent)
2.OKT3 in particular against CD3(molecule on surface of lymphos, esp epsilon chain)
3.ALG can also be given in BMT.(of course mainly for solid organ transplant as wel)

There is another anti thymocyte globulin (ATG) which is more similar to ALG.
Anti- hymocyte globulin is also commonly used and both r associated with cytokine release syndrome in the short term and an increased risk of post transplant lymphoproliferative disorder in the long term.

ALG is more likely to cause side effects than ATG, but is safer than OKT3.

so there is not much difference though ,all r immunosuppressants and more effective than conventional steroid t/m.

Hope that helps.GL kodey
