in pts for back pain,do we need to turn pt on his/her stomach?

i couldnt find any clip for palpation ,and range of movement check in uw physical exam video.

so what will we do,palpation in sittin position or no palpation at all

palpate in a sitting position.

( i think that turning the patient around will waste you a lot of time and may make the patient unconfortable)

here is the routine for back pain
1. inspect back for deformities
2. check for spinous process tenderness
3. check for paraspinal tenderness
4. palpate post sup iliac spine process both sides
5. KNEE REFLEX
6. ankle reflex
7. test for sensation to dull and sharp at foot (3places)
8. check post tibial and dorsalis pedis pulses
the above in sitting position

8. straight leg raise
9. ask pt to get up and walk, check gait.
thats it.....u r done

kent when is ur exam,i am going to do the course in chicago and now they dont have spot anywhere left,thnx for guidance at rt time.my exam apr 29th.
