28. Man develops wrist drop after sustaining a complete fracture of the upper arm *** with extensive tissue damage. Fracture was reduced successfully and ends of vessels and damaged nerves were apposed and surgically rejoined. Despite physical therapy, the extensor muscles have a decre volume and can contract only weakly. Wound healing and flexion are good. Most likely cause of this condition is abnormal function of which following?
a.neurotrophic input
b.tendon stretch receptors
c.circulation
d.glucose transporters
e lymphatic drainage

not neurotropic input.. is this not disuse atrophy or nerve damage

i mean answer may be a. neurotropic unit. circulation would not cause a decrease volume of the muscle?

volkman's contracture usually affects the flexor anterior comp. of the arm due to spasm or external compression of the brachial artery following a supracondylar fracture, or a tight cast.. but anyway, i guess the extensor com would not be affected in that case!..
and they also mentioned that the wound healing is good, and that extension only occurs WEAKLY.. that is all an indication to a neurological damage to the radial nerve probably in that case!
