a 53 yr old female is hospitalized for heart failure.on day 3rd her hematocrit is 50%.and blood gas analysis shows that PaO2 is 70%...a 51cr tagged rbcs infusion shows that she is had normal rbc mass..most likely cause for the dev of polycythemia is?

rbc mass normal so E... relative erythrocytosis
RBC count = RBC mass/ Plasma vol
HCT is high, so RBC count must be high
but RBC mass is normal
so Plasma Vol wd have decreased

it's (e)
relative erythrocytosis or relative polycythemia
where the RBC mass is normal but there is loss of body fluid
such as in Burn or Dehydration
