Catheters for hemodialysis - please help - notagain

Hi,

Can someone explain to me what is the difference between a permanent catheter (a 2-lumen catheter) and temporary one for hemodialysis?

Can it be placed in the jugular vein? The subclavian vein? Or both?

And what is a central line? Is it the same thing?

hi dear.
the difference between the permenent and the temporal one is that in the permanent you create a tunel through the skin in the infra scapular region ,it usually done in the inernal jugular vein... it can stay up to 9 month ,,,its done to decrease the risk of infection.
up to my knowlege the centeral venous line is aline conected to any of the centeral veins for any purpose like giving drugs , fluid and monitering ...
