25 year old male on ct abdo 2 cm adrenal mnodule detected...pt completely asymptomatic...nodule in nonfunctional...ct shows hypodense nodule with smooth border feature?what to do next?
(1)assure pt that nodule is benign
(2)serial Ct 6 monthly....FOR 3 YEARS
(3)FNAC
(4)open biospy

i wud think 2...
most likely benign, smooth border, nonfunctional...
just moniter him regularly...

ya i have doubt between 1 and 2...in kaplan Q bank answer is 1....but i read that if bening nonfunctional nodule follow up with CT 6 monthsly,periodic endocrine evaluation is necessary as hormonal excess can develop over a period of time...

its probably one of those questions...they wud put to see the statistics part of usmle...i dont think it wud count.
i mean they both make sense...maybe answer is 1...because..it is very less likely he is gonna get a cancer or tumour out of it, andt hey dont want to waste in insurances money...hmm, lets see what others think..
