I learned that estrogen is P450 dependent. And that drugs that inhibit p450, increase estrogen - which is why they cause gynecomastia (Spironolactone, ketoconazole, etc.)
So how does alcohol (which increases P450), cause gynecomastia?
Just curious, so if anyone could answer, it'd be great! Thanks.

gynacomastia in alcoholic cirrhosis , is due to decrease catabolism of androstenedion .
inc. androstenedion is responsible for inc. conversion of androgens to estrogen in the tissues. this is the mech. as i understand it ...

Also, in alcoholic cirrhosis, estrogen catabolism in the liver is decreased and hence leads to increased periferal action of estrogen leading to gynecomastia as I understand.
