it is a form of imprinting,both syndromes due to delition or inactivation(methylation) of genes on chromosome 15.It can also occur due to uniparental disomy.it means two allel come from one parent
one allel is active and the other one is inactive,now if the active allel is deleted or inactivated the disease occurs. If delition or inactivation allel is from father=PWS and if it from mother=Angelman.
