does having GC helps so much in finding a residency/

The only help i think being a GC holder or a US citizen is ,you don't have to find out whether the program sponsors different kinds of visas or not , you can apply to more programs + you have MILDER increased chances of getting into residency compared to non GC or non US citizens.

1. having gc, u can apply to program which does not sponsor visa.
2. visa sponsoring programmes- chances similar. but if your have 90 and visa requiring candidate have more than 95 then he gets, but if both have similar usmle score and experience u get upperhand.
