Extensively hydrolyzed formula: In these formulas, the protein is broken down into smaller parts that are easier for your baby to digest than larger protein molecules. Your baby may need a hydrolyzed formula if he has allergies or trouble absorbing nutrients. The doctor may also suggest trying a hydrolyzed formula if your baby has colic.

how can allergy be contagious???

Answer is d

EHF are beneficial in colic and a trial is recommended in infants with colic. Very low birth weight infants will benefit from fortified human milk, Modified cow or soybased formulas are appropriate for GERD. Transient lactase deficiency and NOT lactose intolerant kids will benefit from any lactose free formula but most tolerate lactose containing formulas and a change to lactose free is not recommended. A first degree relative with allergies will be an indication for extensive hydrolyzed formula but this is not stated as an option.
