Primary care IM is just like Categorical IM and from what I am told they share the same training except primary care is focused on more blocks in ambulatory care. Also there are some added perks like some training in public health and community and student mentorship. Upon completion of PCIM one can enter any fellowship that an IM can. Both are board cert in IM and r considered categorical IM officially by ABIM. SO both r eligible for the same positions as the other. Hope this helps.
