I heard that if a doctor works in a low-income area that he/she can receive reductions in their student loans.. Has anyone heard of anyone going through this route?

i don't think it is for residency but after residency, if u aggreed to work in underserved places, then government pays your student loan. I am 100% sure of it.

There are rules to the above. For one, many states require you to be a US Citizen to qualify for loan forgiveness.

Look into the states you want then. There are additional requirements, that was just a big one that would rule many of the ppl on this board out.

I know some hospitals that hire you after residency will pay off a percentage of your student loan (similar to a signing bonus).
