some doubts about the Qs - fadd

I am sure that you have done your exam well. Good luck for a great result. All the answers you posted, i think yourare absolutely right only doubt is with the otitis media question, I found in the Toronto notes that risk factor for OM is passive smoking, crowded rooms,bottle feeding, pacifier, male sex etc...swiming i think is more in favour of otitis externa.....if i am wrong please do correct me,,,

A review by the World Health Organization concluded that passive smoking is a cause of bronchitis, pneumonia, coughing and wheezing, asthma attacks, middle ear infection, cot death, and possibly cardiovascular and neurobiological impairment in children

1.Give IV Calcium
2.Surgery for obese 450 lbs.
3. Surgery for sigmoid volvulus for 12 hrs. in an elderly male(proctosigmoidoscopy only if no gangrene in bowel) At 12 hrs. could have some gangrene. Were there any vital signs?
4. Ask dad not to smoke in the house. A frequent cause of ear infections in childre is smokers in the house.
5.What did teh barium swallow look like if you remember?
6. Angiotensin 2
7. Pinworm
8. Decreased sensitivity, Increased specificity

0,9 mg/ml Ca is 9mg/dl which it is a normal value?

0.9 mg/dL, whatever the unit USMLE use, I believe. I don't think they will play with the unit. Fadd must have a typo here. Anyway, the Q is telling you that the patient is experiencing hypocalcimemia. normal value? 8-10 something.
