Besides waiting for 1st birthday before operating, do we need to do Ultrasound to R/O associated inguinal hernia?

yup you do transillumination, check if its reducible and also do a doppler US to rule out hematocole, hernia, testicular torsion and spermatocele

on the doppler US, hydrocele is avascular and seen as fluid surround testis while spermatocele looks more like unilocular cyst filled with fluid.
