My H1is only for one year, who in the same boat? - cstaker
#1
My lawyer told me it is the law for medical resident 1 year. Why people get 3 yos? It is because most officers don't know the law. I am unfortunate to be handled by a knowledgable officer.

Is it true? Who else have same situation? Is it difficult to get renewal? how much will it cost? Such a pain when dealing with visa stuff.

Your contrat is for one year and your I129 is also for one year. The USCIS also aprove that in which the hospital already signed. My H1b approval is only for the time which is stated on my contrat.I think the visa officer can give you H1B visa stamp for three years but your I94 will not exceed more than it is stated on the approval notice.

my husband had the same problem. some programs they give only a year cont you have to reniew every year. and they dont stamp h1b for 3 years. next year when you reniew you'll have your h1b in the paper.if you want to get it stamped you have to sent it to your country emmbassy in us which will take 3 months . we didn't go to our country for 2 years. after that we went to our country and got it stamped. but some time they might reject. when you reniew next year you go thro your hospital cir lawyer if your hospital has one the fee is very very less
