HY Histology, p142:

" IgA within the lamina propria binds to the poly-Ig receptor on the basal domain of the enterocyte to form an IgA + poly-Ig receptor complex that is endocytosed and transported across the enterocyte. At the apical domain, the complex is cleaved such that IgA is released into the intestinal lumen joined with the secretory piece of the receptor and is known s secretory IgA."
