p53 is a tumor suppressor gene so it would be 2 allele lost to get loss of function and I chose that as as answer= 2 allele deletion, but the answer was not 2 but 1 allele deletion. I still don't understand why.

It depends on question,
you are right if they ask what should be done for oncogenesis through p53 mutation to occur you are wrong if they ask about Li Fraumini.

P53 is a cornerstone of cellular proliferation, dna repair and apoptosis and few other things I am not aware of. You see, if both alleles were mutated in every cell of the pt since conception, he or she wouldn't, probably, had been born.

agree with blanc.....P53 has mnay functions, if both absent , child would not have been born.....

In first aid it says it's a tumor suppressor gene with 2 genes deletion not 1 causing function loss and I chose that for an answer when asked. I still don't get why I was wrong.

One allele undergoes a germ line mutation
And after birth it's a somatic mutation so maybe it was something in those terms |
