My second radiology invite - blackjack
#24
hidalgo, Your scores are not the issue. As you already may know many radiology applicants have double 99. Your triple digit score is what matters. If you have scores >255 or better yet >260 then you will have a solid chance with program filters. Research is almost mandatory these days to express interest in the field.

regarding your CAT IM. I have observed some folks successfully entering rads after CAT IM. May i mention that is with some solid contacts (remember these are the ones i know, there might be several that were successful without contacts). More serious problem with this is that folks matched with CAT IM into rads were having GC. So visa might be an issue there for you.

In general, the medicaid sponsors only 1 residency per candidate. So dual residency requires programs to pay for training out of their pocket. Am not sure how many out there are willing to do that for folks with Visa req.

I am not sure how much of research in rads you can do in a residency. Try to use some collaboration PIs at your home program or else where. look for some pointers i have suggested in choosing the type of research PI you will need on these rads threads. Use NIH web resources for latest research awards and who got them. Email extensively to those PIs and you will get offers. I have gotten in the past from KKI-JHU, UPENN, BCM, DUKE etc...

Good luck
