why !i know GTP as a word makes us feel naus.,vomiting,,,bored.....but i
just had 2 questions about that point and wanted to share....
we hv to start learning hard stuff points....to learn wht we don't like....wht doesn't make any sense...wht we usually forget....then we come back back to wht's simple and logical for this test

dear stillclimbing,
LOL! spot on re the GTP.... ok i think i get it... i will give it a shot! : )
young girl, cuts down on all fats but still takes carbs. This will lower her??
ans. HDL
(not LDL) carbs will give her VLDL which will STILL give her LDL & IDL
tho i wont be able to get a new concept everyday when i do il type it out here for all of us in UTAs (& others who follow) : ) ok! nice idea.... others try doin the same!
Cheers!

I wanna share some points i know..
1. Eplerenone is K+ sparing aldosterone antagonist with very less anti androgen effects. Do not mistake this drug as a PDE inhibitor as i do
2.Regular insulin is the drug of choice for DKA , it has peak action in 2-3 hrs and it's a short acting insulin.

Hello!
I took a day-off yesterday. The club seems to be more active than ever.
Climber, I like your idea of adding some points everyday.
Here's my 2 cents from the start of the day.
HbA1c is affected by RBC turnover and survival.
Patients wt iron/B12/folic acid deficiency anemia have low turnover rate --> lots of older RBC present --> falsely high HbA1c
In contrast, patients wt iron/B12/folic acid supplementation or G6PD deficiency
--> high turnover --> falsely low HbA1c
Oxygen, did you mean you got 590 in NBME ? If so, congrats!
If not, sorry, I need to stop day-dreaming...
