Our Holy Book definitely asks women to cover themselves up(may be in the CIVILIZED world women bing used as a commodity to sell stuff and objects to satisfy men's hungry gazes is acceptable but not in my religon), but it dosn't ask women to do talibans coverup where they are enclosed in a tent.
In the time of our Prophet(SAW) his wife used to teach his deciples and according to islamic teachings its imperitive for every man and yes WOMAN to get educated by all means. So burning girls school is not Islamic teachings.
AS far as I know its only in Saudi Arabia that a woman needs a chaperon and its not islamic teaching and not practised any where else. You are generalizing waaaay too much here.
Except in Iran and Saudi Arabia I have no knowledge of any other muslim country imposing hijab on women. In our Holy Book The Quran its clearly said that there is no compulsion in religon.
I cover myself up in the States as I am a practising muslim. Your analogy is bit weird to be honest. Covering up and being modest is for woman's own good as you attract less attention and command more respect. BTW how many men are raped versus women, so being physically weak than our male counerparts ,its better to be modest than to put our body on show for the luring eyes of some of the sick minded men. Plus woman's segregation from men whom they don't know is better in many aspects as less attraction between two sexes,lesser issues and disease in society. Why this society needs HPV vaccines that can be used for preteen girls ,I mean comeon its ok to have sex at 11 hence the HPV vaccine (I have heard about 9 year olds too) in the civilized world ,and if something happens in islamic world its barbaric,uncivilized,molestation etc.
Oh you didn't know that that train incident investigation is still going on. According to the BBC there are serious doubts about what actually happened because according to the forensic evidence fire started from inside the train and this train incident led to the riots where hindus butcherd muslims.
I can take criticism for my religon,no problem in that ,but may be we muslims don't attack your religon like that and may be at present whole mainstream media is not busy picking on hindus like they are for muslims.Noone attacked christianity when ireland was having problems and Britian was victim of IRS's terrorism. Why is that in an uncvilized islamic pakistan we had a woman prime minister and here in the civilized U.S they are celebrating their first african american president? Islam does not approve of silly fatwas like that. What you are complaining about is pointless because majority of muslim world does not believe is all these distortd views .If they were practising true Islam,Islamic world would regain its past glory back, the glory of knowledge,culture, poetry ,architecture,art ,sciences,true religous teaching ,religious freedom for all,tolerence and protection of everyones rights including minorities . Allah has given muslim countries so many natural resources,its just matter of time and ofcourse awakening of muslim collective conscience that we rise back to our glory where there is respect for everybody, all opinions and all ways of life.
Before posting do some search on muslim past, you will be surprised to find out that muslim world was cradle of civilization and this current so called civilized world owe a lot to muslims.
I dont know about talisma nasreen case but I am sure something horrible must be done to her but I am sure there are many barbaric stories in other cultures too.
As I told you and IF you were a muslim once ,Quran and hadith say there is no compulsion in religon ,you left islam fine but if someone tells you you will be killed or there are countries where they force you then I mean how many times I have to say that its not according to islamic teachings.
I have and will always have guts to reply to any false allegations because I have firm faith and know where my beautiful religon is misrepresented ,sometimes by non muslims out of their own agenda and lack of knowledge, and sometimes by my own peole out of their sheer ignorance.
I have noticed that even though I have said these things again and again but there are people who will never try to understand and go beyod their biased point of view so I am thinking whether it is worth replying to such posts or not as its emotionally taxing and I have to study. Other than Saudi Arab and Iran I can't think of any hardlined muslim country. Even in Iran women are serving in the parliments,are doctors ,teachrs ,lawyrs,judges etc Iraq had a literacy rate of over 90 % and ofcourse women were actively participating in everything. Pakistan,Bangladesh,Indonesia and Turkey ,all had women primeministers/presidents. Shirin Abadi is first female muslim nobel laureate.Even Saudi Arabia has working proffesional women but noone wants to talk about that side of that country. Islamic history is full of women leaders but some people get irritated if I refer to the past. Can google or wiki whatever you want to find out, the good and yes the bad too.
As long as bombings, strict laws, injustice is concerned , I never said it doesnt exist. But why point fingers at us only. Your country is progressing,good for them, but look at the negatives too. Your own activists and journalists are writing about it ,well not the mainstream media as thay are too busy reporting about talibans .One just has to type in india and so many things pop up, like hunger ,poverty,disease ,farmers committing suicide, prostitution/HIV ,plight of untouchables and poor in general and ofcourse poor muslims in india.

History is very important. Same religon ,same people so what wnt wrong where? We should learn from our past and try to do something in the present to become a prosperous and tolerant nation again .If it could be done before,it can be done again with right leadership and guidance.(and ofcourse by getting rid of all the corrupt governments so that we can be free of the influence of big powers and dictate our relationship with other countries on our own terms and will.
Yes this is the time of glory for the west, as there were goodtimes for many before, for indian civilization,chinese civilizations ,persian empire ,ottoman empire etc. We should take advantage of what west has to offer us and many muslim countries are doing this. Muslim world is full of great scholers,scientists,artists,musicians, archeologists,writers ,poets,actors ,lawyers doctors and list goes on and on. And yes I am talking about the current muslim world.
I wonder why people instead of vacationing in europe are now interestd in visiting U.A.E,turkey,malaysia,indonesia ,morroco,egypt etc. Rogue Pakistan was soo illiterate that they were able to become nuclear and produce a nobel prize winner scientist, and had a judge appointed to international court of justice. I can go on and on , its only pakistan go do some search on current muslim contributions. You see them everywhere .
All of us here are in a profession where humanity comes first and my religon teaches the same as every religon does. So I hope we try to remain as much unbiased as possible.Our profession demands nobility from us and nothing less.
There are people who will never ever accept someone else's point of view and will always twist things around. I am in no denial to whatever is going on in the muslim world today but very hopeful that InshAllah the true face of Islam will come shining through one day and I hope I am alive to see when that happens.

OH and your point about muslim rulers being tyrants, please go read from proper sources like wikipedia or something neutral. Read about muslim spain and read about sallahuddin ayubi. During mughals era in india please tell me if minorities were suffering or not.
I am very dissappointed by terminaters999's comment but I guess this is what we have to faee on daily basis,the racist in society.
. Anyway as true face of iraq war has been revealed, time will come when people will find out what their governments have been involved in and I guess we have to wait and see. If all the people of the world are given equality,equal oppurtunity and mutual respect we can move mountains. This is the time of dialogue and not war.When will the world wake up?

If mohammad bin kasim can attack sindh at 17 and alexander can start his conquests even earlier, than a girl thousand years ago can get married at 12. Everything should be taken into perspective while talking about history. How many 17 years olds in present times can conquer a country?. If girls today can have sex at 10,11 today,same goes for boys too ,then why cant they get married . Just check out the history books and you will find out at what age people used to get married and bear children.

The cult has only 7 countries out of 57 which had bad laws? Not a bad statistics considering the state world is in at this time. I never attacked you religon ,only bad deeds by few people in the name of religon. I can call hindu religon a cult too but I am not going to do that.
