Radiology ROL - Holman Track - J1 Waiver - blackjack
#11
blitz, often times there are J1 Waiver positions that open up. They are released every year by the government and you can get that information from physician recruiting agencies. However they are not very large in number. You will probably need to plan ahead of time. These positions are not just in primary care; just are more in primary thats all. I am planning on doing Holman if I can and get a waiver through PhD (finish it in 2 years) and get the J1 waiver before clinical rotations since the rotation scheduling is flexible. I will discuss this with the PD....

Hey blackjack,

Thanks for that piece of info. Didn't know that, and makes me more interested in J1 now.

What type of areas are these Waiver positions? Are they all in small, rural areas? Cause I would prefer to be in a large city ideally, but I know J1 Waivers tend to be in rural areas...but again, I could be mistaken.

BTW, do you have any websites that list physician recruiting agencies? Thanks,

The only one I know about is the 30 Conrad: http://j1visawaiver.net/j-1-waivers/j1-c...formation/

P.S. Sorry for hijacking your thread

That is a good website. However you need to write to recruiting agents on http://www.vistastaff.com/ to get more specific information on a specific state and even a city. Yes most of J1 Waiver positions for specialists are in rural areas, unfortunately.

Oh nice, thx for that!

One other question, I was on that site you sent me, do I look for

"Permanent Jobs" or "Extended Placements"

Thanks again!

Depends on what you look for. For radiology permanent (or partnership) better than extended placements. hope that helps...
