You must first
lower the phosphate quickly to avoid
metastatic calcification. Oral calcium
given with meals will bind the phosphates
in the food, and lower the phosphate

Aluminum hydroxide (choice C) will do the
same thing, but will risk aluminum
toxicity and should be avoided

There is usually no need to start urgent
dialysis (choice D) to lower the
phosphate. It is not used as a first-line
treatment in hyperphosphatemia

Vitamin D given orally (choice A) will
lower the PTH but may only be given after
the level of phosphate is lowered.
Otherwise, the vitamin D could calcium and phosphate.
