Magnesium: normal value= 1.7-2.2 mg/dl
1. Supplement all Mg below 2.0 unless pt has renal failure (around 1.6 is fine, check with resident)
2. For every 0.5 deficit, give 1 g of Mg
3. Magnesium Sulfate 1 g IV (run over 1 hour) or 400mEq MgOxide po BID or TID

What do you need for internship year, it is depend to the speciality, but some books are common. you need a pharmacopedia, a managment book and a special book(for IM Washington, for FM, Swanson, for Surgery Schwartz, .....).
regarding this managements you posted here, all you can find on "EZ pass clinical rotation", there are 2 EZ pass, the other one is EZ pass CCS, it is not what I am talking about.(don't be confused).

I got EZ pass from my friend who started Dermatology in July 2010.
I posted all topics here; L@@K

I got the EZ pass clinical rotation, I like it. I don't advertise nor telling you to buy it, just look at the book on amazon.com, see inside the book for free, then think, you know the materials or not.

there is an AF guide: an atrial fibrillation reference of ipod, iphone.

I cannot tell you how many times you get called for afib with RVR. Its kinda helpful and its free + handy as it is on iphone.

the is the pneumonia management tool by ortho-mcneil-jassen (makers of levaquin). i find it sometimes useful too.

I have used MGH hand book through out my internship and found it more than adequate for when you are on call or night float.

Hope this helps
