Can anybody else tell if my J2 gets rejected, will I still be able to hold my old B1/B2 visa? All inputs would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Yes, you'll retain the status if the b1/b2 stamping is not cancelled on your passport !

Hi...
i have a same case like you. so pls dont confuse yourself.

Take J-2 [It will give you more benefit] then B1/B2
your B1/B2 will autometic cancel.

AND J-2 never rejected untill and unless you had any crime history.

@ unmatchedsoul

In past I have been in a similar situation as yours.
Definately go for J2 visa
If your J2 visa gets rejected, which i hope it doesn't, you will still be able to travel to US on B1/B2. At the end of interview, you will be told that your J2 is rejected and your passport will be returned. But for sure they will not cancel your exisiting B1/B2.
Talking about wedding: Make it absolutely sure to carry wedding album to the consulate.
I hope this helps.
