Yes, you'll retain the status if the b1/b2 stamping is not cancelled on your passport !

HI i was in same situation wen I came to us last year.its a safe visa, Also it helps you to get interviews . I htink very very rare chances it gets rejected. Well till now i have never heard of it getting rejected.

i have a same case like you. so pls dont confuse yourself. Take J-2 [It will give you more benefit] then B1/B2 your B1/B2 will autometic cancel. AND J-2 never rejected untill and unless you had any crime history.

thanks a lot ppl, so I will go ahead with the J2.
I have another querry my wedding was conducted under the Special Marriage Act and not the Hindu Marriage Act (although both me and my husband are hindus) would this be a problem?

In past I have been in a similar situation as yours. Definately go for J2 visa If your J2 visa gets rejected, which i hope it doesn't, you will still be able to travel to US on B1/B2. At the end of interview, you will be told that your J2 is rejected and your passport will be returned. But for sure they will not cancel your exisiting B1/B2. Talking about wedding: Make it absolutely sure to carry wedding album to the consulate. I hope this helps. |
