For the CCS

@hopetomatchsoon Thank you. Even i heard the same thing. But i thought my MCQs saved me as i felt i did well though the questions were long. Most people who got 230+ had their CCS performance on the higher side. So i feel if you do CCS well you will PASS and if you do CCS very well you will get high score.
@missionimpossible Thank you. I always had enough break time barring the Step 3(so understand how stressed you are going to be on 1st day)..Did 2 Blocks+Break of 5-10 min.+2 Blocks+10 min. break+Break after every block(as you asked my personal break management...i want to let you know... i went to the exam in a post-diarrheal condition so by the last block my brain couldnot even understand the 1st line of every question though i took a 20 minute break after the previous block). If i have to suggest..may be after 2 blocks..take a break for every block. @alexa22 Thank you. Yeah >65%Questions will be almost 85% of total screen available on the 1st test day. I didnot do any NBMEs as i thought no test takes CCS into account. Hence i thought better take a test that gives me confidence and that tests from the material i studies..so took UWSA.

@swatu Dr.Archer's lectures are a MUST. DONOT attempt to leave them in your Preparation as you will get confidence after you watch them which is the most important for the Step 3 Exam. I didnot do Dr.Archer Lectures and in my personal opinion unless you want a really stellar Score and you have time left, no need to go for them. Sure you can ask me questions at avismiles2000 Thank you.
@drpepper4u Thank you man. I have a feeling you will get >220 based on your confidence in MCQs section and your concerns on CCS portion (i thought we both were in the same boat). Goodluck to you mate. @resi_hopeful Thank you. You are doing a great job on the forum(unfortunately my Exam was on the same day you started posting the wonderful Questions..so couldnot read them). I didnot do any NBMEs as i read people's posts and felt it will kill my confidence which one gets after giving UWSA. So if you get low score on UWSA study well again. But if you get a decent score on UWSA then Prepare for CCS and take the test. @tauko The 88$ course everyone watches. I guess its for about 4 hours totally.

@swatu I am sorry for the missing word in my answer..I mean i did Dr.Archer's video lectures for CCS(4 hours if i remember) and there is no need to use Dr.Archer's Notes in my personal opinion. Thank you.

@drnash I have a question regarding Archer videos. Are they videos that you can watch again and again during a certain time or can you only watch them once? Can you rewind to watch certain parts of the video again?
09-04-2014, 11:21 AM
@hopetomatchsoon yeah we will be given around 30 or 40 hours. you can do whatever you like in that time like rewind..
09-04-2014, 11:25 AM
Ok thanks. But honestly I'm not sure if Archer is really worth it for me at this time, especially when it's $88. I've already got the basic principles like doing emergency orders before physical depending on the case. What do these Archer videos really discuss about that I wouldn't know?

Congrats drnash.. Good score..
How many biostat questions did you get other than drug abstract qs and how was their difficulty?
09-04-2014, 12:50 PM
@hopetomatchsoon Actually you can download them though i donot remember where they were posted. You can add a post on usmleforum.com and a kind soul can help i believe.
@mnop22 Thank you. Yeah Biostat Questions will be pretty straight forward but the Drug Ad questions might contain some too.. I used to do good at Biostatistics and for mastering it allot 1 day and do Biostatistis from Step 1 or 2 Kaplan book. They will serve all purposes. |
