mr.xyz...the harmful effects of hiv infecn lie not wth the virus as such but bcoz of destruction of fighter cells in ur body
cd4 count=say it is the count of fighter cells in ur body which fight infections...the lesser the count the more u r prone to infectn
tell him ...u need to fortify ur self wth vaccines , vitamin supplements and a good diet
talk about flu shots, pneumococcal vaccine,hep A,B vaccine, ppd test
talk about regular eye exam
tell him about prophylactic medicines against infectns
ask him if all his partners know his hiv status
counsel him on mandatory condom use
talk about suport systems
tell him wth all the above interventions...he can still lead a normal ,improved quality of life

and while counselling always show enough empathy and stress to the point that you are always for caring him -- and you mean it what you say

talk about depression- hiv can cuse depression too and explain that depression can be taken care with therapy counselling and drugs -- you may have to mention spritual aspect of health and advice him that those support groups also are available regarding that.

also advice him not to infect other with body fluid and take precaution --at the same time tell him that hiv is not transmissble with handshaking and simple kissing [ except deep kissing which should be avoided]

also tell him that taking care of general infection early can help to restore his health or prevent disasters like blindness.

also tell him that he should tell about his status to the partners who need to be also checked -and if he is admitted to any hospital he should tell the doctor about his hiv status --

also tel him the coexistance of other STD and check for those too.


also tell him that his status wont be disclosed to others and assure confidentiality but tell him also that it has to be reported to CDC.

butt question is it is so long list -- so what to counsel depends upon how much time you have during patients interview -- so if hiv case in exam ,start counselling earlier

==counselling of diarrhea =is this in a peds case???if yes talk about reghydration wth pedialite or prepareing ors at home 8 glasses water+salt+ sugar,look fr signs of dehydration-listless, sleepy baby, no urine output..............adults=talk about maintaining good hydration, advise to take symptomatic tx only if more than 5/6 episodes,

conselling of tremortell them it cud be due to thyroid,or alcoholism or a benign one,

counselling of impotence-tell pt some causes r reversible, imp of regular blood sugar control, assure them that tx is available
