Bright red signifies Arterial Blood as it is this case.

Yes Pain is indeed the deciding factor, Variceal bleeds are painless and more severe bc of increased portal pressure but Mallory Weiss tears bleed just from point of laceration so it cant be as bad as variceal bleed

sooo its E... told chronic alcoholic, voming blood,
BP low..... all these factors go to tell abt portal HTN n its affects mostly

Sure besides it has a higher mortality rate and hx of chronic alcoholism is given and low BP so its overwhelmingly Variceal bleed, these guys are very smart these NBME guys
