20%...29% etc.. from where all this comes up.... I am in contact with a program... considered img amg favourite .. keepin my fingers crossed pd is strict... but yes I know the PC ...
in one day they have got like 478 applications... some have 99/99s.. they sort out as need visa .. dont need visa first... and review the packs in groups of 20 ... and give an alphabetical score of A to F.... all the A to C are called first.... A is like high scorers with 'significant' AMERICAN research.... and AMERICAN EXTERNSHIP. in the LOR.. they look for the hands on stuff done as testified by the AMERICAN PHYSICIAN! B and C have some deficiencies .. like say one low score .. or cs attempt.. or need visa!... if any one or 2 of the above .. yet they have a significant chance of being called! thern comes the rest... if many interveiwees delay IVs.. cancel or withdraw .. towards the end of the season they reach out to D and E groups!... this is the way at one of the programs ..i m sure we alllll have applied to,,, again they dont reply to any questions... and dont call till they have reviewed atleast their first 1000!

The beauty of this system is ... an above 90 scorer.. with Good USCE and good research with good LORs is the Elite A.. While ... 99/99 er with lilttle USCE or just some observership or some letter... or some research comes to B...or C... again if this person needs a visa.. He is out in to D .. and lower chances for being called!
Also this program DOES NOT MIND sponsoring visa for an exceptional candidate who HAS American attributes on his package like research here.. publications in American or re nowned journals...Journal like " JOurnal experimentai parapsychological association of Canay islands" is not the publication that they are looking for... That publication could be the 'world' of someone from Canay islands... Not here! IT IS THE WHOLE PACKAGE.. yes .. SCores and attempts Do matter... as they are the filter.. But No programs have filters like . We take only 99ers!...

US LORs.. they look at who has given the LOR .. If it is someone they know... and some one well respected in Their circle... The PD might just call the candidate on the basis of that... Because a strong LOR is an ELite A item!
Many programs especially ones in Ohio have lots of nepotism and regional bias! ...Some programs have candidates from a specific region in India... OR Some programs You see a bias based on Religion... because in both these cases there are influential people in the commitees who pick candidates from their regions.. Some even work through contacts.. I am sure many people who are reading this are like that .. or belong to some specific place like that.. and YES that is a factor too.. It is just Not only hardwork and 99s people... It includes factors like these too So 99/99 matched unmatched threads.. 99/99 IV call lists are good .. But we never know the actual weight of drporno's publications or LORs... may be they are Not as good as drporno thinks... 260+ scorers.. yes it takes a lott to be there I understand.. But remeber You ahve reached there By giving up on things in your credentials like good USCE or research .. SO once a candidate in 99s with all that.. They beat you! ... again Caribbean grads with 1 year USCE and better accents and established backgrounds here are preferred at some places ... they get stellar LORs from University Academic Physicians!
