"quiet person" written in lor - poleece
#11
Poleece,

I WILL NOT SUBMIT THIS LETTER.YOU CANNOT BE QUIET RESIDENT.

BELIEVE ME THE PD 'S ARE SO NASTY WITH FMG SOMETIMES.

THEY ASK DIRECT QUESTIONS AND GET ON YOUR NERVES.ONE OF MY FRIEND WENT TO INTERNAL MEDICINE INTERVIEW IN NY BROOKLYN HOSPITAL AND THE PD WAS SO MEAN THAT HE MADE HER CRY.THEY REALLY ARE AND NOTE EACH POINT.

THE FIRST QS AFTER READING THE RECOMMENDATION LETTER WOULD BE SO IF YOU ARE QUIET HOW ARE YOU GOING TO HANDLE THE PATIENTS AND THEIR QUESTIONS??

HO W YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS HAVE BEEN AND HOW DO YOU COPE WITH DEFICIENCY IN YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS.

BETTER BE SAFE THAN SORRY.I WILL NEVER RISK MY RESIDENCY BECAUSE SOMETHING NEGATIVE IS IN MY LETTER.
THIS IS MY SUGGESTION BUT IT IS UPTO YOU TO DECIDE

Though the entire content is required to comment on this LOR..but whtever I can make out till now is tht PLZ DONT SUBMIT THIS LOR......the possibility of getting an interview/position thru this type of LOR is almost nil but the possibility of taking away few interviews/position thru this LOR is VERY HIGH...it is highly negative..final decision will be taking by you, but think a lot before u submit it.

Why not type out the whole letter and let everybody judge. How can we judge just by a sentence?

I don't think you can tell from one word either. I have seen the same word used to discribe a oncoming resident. It's totally written in a positive light. You really should get a sense from how the letter is written to decide whether using it or not.

below i typed roughly the entire letter the US doc wrote....

"This doc asked me to write him an lor for applying to residency programs and i am happy to write him a very strong lor. I was able to evaluate him for 3 weeks during an observership.

He had a good fund of knowledge and was able to apply basic sciences to evaluate patient cases. He could integrate information very well and come up with an appropriate treatment plan. He asked appropriate questions and made appropriate suggestions. He displayed good intelligence by following a question from a question, which exceeded my expectations.

I found this doc to interact very well with patients, medical students and residents. he fits in well and became part of the team. This doctor had an excellent attitude and was appropriately pleasantly aggressive.

he is slightly quiet, probably no suprise given his circumstances and the newness of us to him. his relative quietness was not a negative seemed to be coming from strength.he seemed quietly confident.

If you have any questions about this doc, please do not hesitate to contact me.""

one more thing. this is from a dept i did observerhsip in which iam not going to apply.is this letter more harmful instead useful ? pls advise.
