antihbsag is seen in vaccinated persons whereas both anti bvc and anti hbsag are found in old infections...just realised today that hbsag is used in the vaccine so it`s easy to remember that way...thought i`d share this here if it can help anyone

hey take care anti hbsag provides protection against hep b so in chronic carrier state the matter is i think lil bit different too.yes u r right but old infection and chronic carrier are different things.old infection may mean recovered from hepb.

hey guys my 2 cents ,
In chronic infection -HBsAg +,antibodies to core antigen will be positive but IgG,HBeAg may or may not be +,BUT there will not be any protective antibodies means antibodies to surface antigen negative. In old or prior infection -antibodies to both HBcAg (IgG) and HBsAg will be present. In vaccinated persons only antibodies to surface antigen will be present. |
