first we give PPI, histamine blockers
if they dont work than we go for GED . take biopsy urease breath test is most of times used to see the outcome of the drug treatment or follow up and for GERD we cinfirm with 24 hour ph monitoring

heartburn/pyrosis is not the same as dyspepsia/epi pain....
for pyrosis.....empiric PPI in young without danger signs for dyspepsia...like in this case....h pylori test 1st...ans B..

this is an example of difference in kaplan and UW !!!!! it is A according to kap notes and what doc7827 says is correct.. but what lynna says is also correct which is the given regimen on UW !! so whic one to follow ??? what does usmle expect... do we stick to kap notes or UW ???? someone plz shed some light on this.. its really scaring me and very tensed !!
