restrictive cardiomyopathy and constrictive pericarditis?

restrictive cardiomyopathy..........function of diastole. E.Fraction slightly reduces. CO remains normal. xray shows crdiomegaly.
contrict pericard.............xray shows normal heart. ekg shows PR segment depression. auscultation revels low intensity of apex beat.

clinical findings more or less the same? Echo helps in diagnosis. thickening of myometrium in restrictive cardiomyopathy. any other inputs. i always struggle with this one. thanks zkadhem for posting this thread.

hi biochem2...
restrictive cardiomyopathy is char. by diastolic dysfunction due to a stiff ventricular wall.cxr shows only mild enlargment of the cardiac silhoutte.ECHO-->shows symmetrically thickened ventricle walls, normal or slightly reduced lt ventricular size and normal ornear normal systolic function.kussmoul's sign is positive.the apical impulse is easily palpable in restrictive cardiomyopathy as opposed to constrictive pericarditis. with constrictive pericarditis --->cxr may show pericardial calcification and the ctscan usually shows increased thickness of the pericardium.Kussmoul's sign may also be positive .The myocardium thickness is normal in pericaditis.

RCM------decreased LVEF
